Patterns Worth Repeating!

We all have patterns of behaviour – some serve us and some don’t. Sometimes our patterns can lead us away from fulfilment. The solution is to ramp up those behaviour patterns that help us and sever those that don’t! First Step: Awareness    We can get so caught up in the day that we exist almost unconsciously; unaware of how our actions are knitted into patterns. Complete this helpful exercise plotting your life events on a timeline. |_________|_________|__________|__________|__________Now! 1995          2000         2005    2010    2011 School Uni       Employment    Relationship    Children Describe your life at each point in time – give details of your mental and physical health, relationships and wealth. Score how you were feeling at each point. How was I emotionally/psychologically/physically/financially out of 10? Recall the times when you scored a 9 or 10 – what were the patterns or habits you had then? Do you still have them? Mark out the tough times – what were your patterns and habits and more importantly are you still carrying them? Ask yourself if these patterns are helpful or hold you back. Second Step: Responsibility Much of our day is pattern driven so it’s helpful to be aware of our unconscious actions. What…

Every Minute Counts!

The most common reason we give for not getting things done is…I don’t have time. The moment we give a reason we give justification for why we think, say or do what we do, hindering the opportunity for change. When we stop giving reasons and start taking responsibility in every minute and every moment – life gets a whole lot better! So what’s your reason for not having time?

The statement I don’t have time is everywhere – everybody says it at some point. It’s the reason for not getting the things done that matter – like exercise, healthy eating, quality time with loved ones, relaxation, self development and great results at work.

What we could say is “I don’t have time for the less important tasks I do that add no value to my life” or “I have no time to waste on the things that don’t matter”.

Ask high achievers and they will admit that life is busy but that there is time if you only do the things that matter… the things that truly add value. The one thing high achievers don’t have time for is wasting time. They all say the key to more time is not wasting time on the things that…

Make a decision to thrive

Our environment can adversely influence our performance and engagement in life. When something is not serving us and we cannot remove it or ourselves it’s time to limit your exposure! Thrive or languish?
In a poor environment, why do some thrive while others languish? Previously as a leader of a highly profitable real estate office I’ve experienced several market changes – none more memorable than the Global Financial Crisis. At the time others insisted we wouldn’t maintain high profits in a market where approximately 30% of offices were ready to close.

The media was heavily publicising economic problems, and it would have been easy to blame the market, accept that we could not maintain our results and begin a period of poor outcomes and income. As the leader this would have set the wrong example – the proverb ‘a fish rots from the head down” comes to mind.

We made the decision not to blame the market. The Australia-wide real estate results in our group proved winning offices were not affected in this poor market. Those in the top 100 in the boom were still in the top 100 in the tough market – we couldn’t use the market as an excuse. Make…

Discover Your BIG Purpose!

All day we get things done, cross off the to do list – to be repeated the next day. But have you ever thought about those who turn up daily with unusually high amounts of energy, optimism, self-discipline, persistence and often courage? These people think, talk, walk and act differently – they have conviction. Their difference is they have discovered their purpose and this resoluteness is driving them further and faster. Find your true path
What drives you? What’s your compelling reason – the why you do what you do? It’s a BIG question and one that often gets put in the too hard basket.

The first step to discovering your true path is asking a few questions: * What is really important to you? * How would you spend your days if you had financial freedom? * What gets your heart racing with excitement – what’s your passion? * What do others ask your advice on and compliment you for? * If today were your last day on earth – what would you do? Now head this up “My Values List” and maybe even read it every morning. When we focus on what we value and have a purpose each day…
