Be Contagious!

How do you show up each day? Are you enthusiastic – driven by excitement or perhaps lacking a zest for life or some oomph? Some say that nothing great can be achieved without enthusiasm – it’s key to attracting what you desire. In fact enthusiastic people can be difficult to resist and their joy becomes contagious. Infectious enthusiasm is your SUPERPOWER for gigantic success! Enthusiasm is our SUPERPOWER that strengthens us in the face of our own or others pessimism, apathy, indifference, doubt, fear or tiredness. Enthusiasm allows us to push through to our desired destination. How do you find and maintain your enthusiasm? 1. Focus on what’s important – know your WHY! 2. Get things done that matter each and every day. 3. Spend time being infected by enthusiastic people. 4. Accept that some will reject your enthusiasm – they’re just not infected – yet! Successful people stay enthusiastic even when they get knocked down or rejected. They get back up quickly by drawing on their SUPERPOWER – enthusiasm! Let your enthusiasm show in your face and body, in what you say and do. And get your daily dose of enthusiasm by looking out for enthusiastic people to hang around with….

Courageous Action Is The Gateway To Fulfilment!

There are fears we speak of and fears we don’t. The fears we don’t acknowledge are often the ones that keep us awake at night and give us the greatest pain. These are the ones that – when faced – become our greatest salvation. Success awaits those with courage to face their fears and take action. When the inevitable tough times arrive fear is often what keeps us stuck in the rut. Fears and emotions can paralyse but moving forward is as simple as making a decision. If action is the vehicle to move us forward, courage is the fuel needed to drive us from a difficult to a desired destination. Without this fuel we are immobile. No matter how stuck you may feel, courage can get you moving again. The tough times don’t have to last but the tough people do. Overcoming life’s challenges and curve balls provides enormous strength and resilience. And each time you fuel up with courage and drive forward you gain tools and wisdom to take you through to the next opportunity.

Clever people seek to understand what they fear. They know that on the other side of facing your fear lies spectacular growth and results. Rather…

Stand Out!

What sits behind a well-positioned, profitable and sustainable business – a business that stands out? It’s undeniable that client care is at the top of the list. In business we seek to retain our existing clients and search for ways to attract new ones. But too often we make this more complicated than it needs to be. When we give extraordinary care to existing clients their recommendations become an everlasting supply of new clients – providing lifetime fans! After two decades spent in sales and service I know it’s not difficult to stand out with extraordinary client care. In part because it’s simple to do but also because few do it well. Many have a one-transaction mentality. They invest little in their current clients and spread themselves thinly looking for new ones. Being a stand out is straightforward… * Passion shows – do the work you love! * Give more than expected – under promise and over deliver. * Show genuine interest in their business and personal life. * Be high touch – phone or visit sometimes rather than email or text. * Delight with acts of kindness by mailing a gift or handwritten card. Some say, “I don’t have time for extras – I’m flat…

Expire The Old Stuff!

There’s no denying that life can sometimes offer up some tough blows. However our personal effectiveness can be like insurance against the tough stuff. Without this we get stuck and find it hard to move forward and live the life we want. Moving forward means realising that we may need to put an expiry date on old stuff. Like the expiry date on a passport or driver’s license or the use-by date on grocery items there are areas in our lives where we need to renew, replenish or throw out those things that have expired. When something is no longer working to support you to lead the life you want or there is no longer satisfaction guaranteed, it’s time to accept that the expiry date has arrived. I have observed that those clients who put an expiry on their old ways of thinking or behaving take the greatest steps forward. They expire habits, practices and mindsets that don’t support where they want to be in life like: Low value tasks Doing work they don’t love Hanging with wrong people Comparing themselves to others Worrying what others think Being a victim or persecutor (e.g. blaming parents or others) Repeating old stories…

Open To Learning!

Life satisfaction is greatly influenced by our mindset. Our state of mind, assumptions and beliefs, are a powerful motivator determining our action or inaction. Holding a fixed mindset can close us down to new thinking. Success lies in our ability to challenge existing ideas, be open to learning and embrace the action required. Do you sometimes say “That’s just the way I am” or “I’ve always done it that way”? Are you a “know it all” – thinking you have learnt all you need? At 14 I declared to my parents, “You can’t teach me anything, I know it all!” Imagine the attitude that must have gone with that thinking. Thankfully, leaving home at 17 brought swift changes to that closed mindset! Fixed or growth mindset After decades of research on achievement, Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck made groundbreaking findings on fixed and growth mindsets, documented in her book Mindsets – The New Psychology Of Success. In a fixed mindset, we believe that our intelligence or talents are fixed traits – that talent alone creates success. In a growth mindset, we believe that our abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work – that brains and talent are just the starting point.
