Overcome Intertia and DO THE WORK!

I’ve noticed that many people don’t realise what it actually takes to create the outcomes they want. Successful people just get on with the job and DO THE WORK! They don’t always tell you how hard they work and on top of that they sometimes make it look easy! But the truth is that success requires a massive amount of hard work. As a Thought Leaders Mentor I work with speakers, trainers, mentors, coaches, authors and consultants to position themselves as an expert and known for what they know. As their journey begins I like to share advice I received from my mentor Matt Church – founder of Thought Leaders Global. I share the five keys to becoming a Million Dollar Expert…. Do the Thought Leadership
Trust the System Obsess about positioning Overcome inertia Believe! The path to success can be riddled with self-doubt so surround yourself with brilliant people who can teach you and hold that belief in you until the evidence of success shows up. This helps you to get going, keep up the momentum and DO THE WORK.

My advice to those starting out (and those on the way) is not to delay. I’ve seen too many people struggle in later life and wish…

Fix Messy Overflow!

Many admit to wanting a better life and are aware that change is needed. However, all too often, the problem of capacity comes up. People feel they are too busy with their current workload and can’t add anything else into their day. The good news is our capacity problem can be solved when we replace ineffective with effective. This common problem of working long hours with mediocre results and little quality time for self and other important relationships is only exacerbated as we think the solution is to do more. Like a cup that has a maximum capacity – we can’t just keep pouring more and more into our lives or we will cause a messy overflow! My new clients are often stuck in this situation. They can see that change is needed but can’t quite see how to make a start. We soon establish that their current state of work, while requiring 100% effort or input, is only producing as little as 10% of effective work or output – not so productive! I help my clients to see that we do not want to add more work but rather replace the ineffective work with effective work.

When we STOP pouring more and more into our lives and…

The Right Energy Focus!

Do you sometimes think the person closest to you is the reason you have not achieved your dreams? Or perhaps they prevent you from reaching your potential? And if this person was more positive or supportive, would your life be different? Whether it be a husband, wife, mother, father, sister, brother, friend, colleague or boss, it is possible to reach your full potential living alongside others. It begins with focusing your energy in the right place and accepting others for who they are – warts and all! I have lived with and loved my husband for 27 years – some values we share and others we don’t. There have certainly been times when we do not agree with each other – where we agree to disagree. Despite this we still wake each day and find at least one thing (often more!) to love about the other. If you expect to change others and live in constant blame or criticism it will drain you of precious energy – energy that you need to devote yourself. Spend your time looking for answers within yourself rather than expecting someone else to provide or find them for you.

Acceptance and respect of other’s opinions, being grateful…

Truth or Numb?

Are you ready for my usual feel good newsletter? Not this week! There’s something that needs to be discussed in order to have the best chance of fulfilment and it may not feel good. The World Health Organization reports that 350 million people are suffering from depression. It’s the leading cause of disability worldwide and a major contributor to the global burden of disease. In the western world the standard of living is going up, but the quality of life is going down. Feel good – no! Epidemic – yes! There is information everywhere – online, in books, at courses and one to ones, where experts try to fight one of the world’s largest, costliest and most harmful health problems. Why, with all this help, are we going backwards in our wellbeing? I believe problems begin when we hide our truth and numb our pain. Concealing what is really going on and how we are truly feeling is damaging to our wellbeing. And when we are not fulfilled, in frustration we can turn to addictions – to feel good. The journey from problem to solution gets interrupted with short-term relief, which masks the truth. Relief includes drugs, cigarettes, alcohol and avoidance techniques like procrastination, denial, overeating,…
