Precious Time and Energy!

Time and energy are two of our most valuable resources. But it is not the time we have, it is what we do with our time that counts. Even if our days were 36 hrs long many would still be feeling busy and stressed. When we respect time and learn how to use our time effectively we create energy – the precious by-product that has a huge impact on our life satisfaction. Neen James,  a leadership expert and one of my business partners in the international education company Thought Leaders Global helps others to be more influential, impactful and effective. Her keynote address and latest book Folding Time teaches how to achieve twice as much in half the time. Neen says it’s not about managing time, it’s about folding time and the way you do that is being accountable for your time and the people around you. It’s about engaging differently to give people the gift of your undivided attention and leveraging your energy so that you bring this powerful force into every opportunity. And I think she is spot on! A good energy level is infectious and makes us more influential – it’s a very attractive commodity. Being around someone with a good energy level…

Don’t be a stranger

There’s no denying there are many components to creating successful relationships. At the top of the list lies your ability to communicate well but also important is to communicate regularly. Successful relationships, those that are meaningful and sustainable, are built on quality, frequency and consistency. Without these you may be forgotten. Don’t be a stranger! Relationships take work. Many start well and build to a point where they flourish = success! Or fold with the parties becoming strangers. I know that my teams’ success in real estate was because of our frequent and consistent quality touch points with clients. Every seller received several touch points every week. How often we communicated with our clients was in direct proportion to our results when it came to listing, selling, referrals and repeat business. Have genuine care, don’t just show it once in a while, and be frequent and consistent. Add value to others and see the abundance that will surround you – in all areas of life! I can hear you thinking, “If only I had time to put into my relationships”. Well that’s an easy fix. It’s not about having huge numbers of relationships, on the contrary it’s about the quality hours you put in to the…

Cross The Line With A Result!

There is often a period of time, prior to becoming an expert, where it takes a concerted effort to get better before results are realised. Many give up too early often when they are on the verge of reaching a level of expertise that brings great results. Persistence towards the best possible result should be the focus, rather than just finishing – it’s what bridges the gap to a destination of extraordinary results. Start – Persist – Complete In real estate, long days are very common. Deals are often made between 5pm and 10pm and on weekends. Demanding careers can be exhausting and even more so if the results are absent at the end of a day.

If we persist with the long hours and the results are still not showing up, we need to assess the effectiveness of our input. Poor results may be due to: * Not enough knowledge or skill or the right mindset – a quality issue * Not enough of the right actions – a quantity issue. It’s not just the hours we put in but the quality within those hours that matter. As expertise increases, combined with persistence, the improved output and results will come. With anything…

Be playful!

Working toward the life you want takes courage, discipline, persistence and commitment. And, although moving ahead in the right direction with focus is admirable, sometimes we can become too serious or humourless – not such attractive qualities for success. Sure, success is a serious matter – but the way to serious success can also be fun! “Have more fun” is not the usual advice given to those on a success mission and neither is it essential to success. But for those who want success more quickly, with fulfilment and sustainable outcomes my advice is to seek out a fun way to work towards success.

How fun are you – really? On a scale of 1 to 10 what would others say about you? Do you need to fun up a bit?

Here’s why fun is the way to go: – Fun people are likeable! – Fun people are a magnet and attract lots of good stuff! – Fun people get invited to the party more often – opportunities galore! – Fun people bounce back – resilience brings momentum! – Fun people influence – making the world a better place! And, here’s one that’s no laughing matter. Did you know that scientific evidence points to the fact that laughter, which reduces stress and releases endorphins, helps you…
