Work with people you like!

Sometimes we think we have lost our mojo, but all we may need is to work alongside people with similar values and vision who are, best of all, people you like. And like a relay race it becomes a combined effort, creating many benefits by teaming up! In my book How To Have It All I explain that having it all is NOT doing it all. High achievers, living fulfilled lives: decide what are high value tasks and focus on these only decide what doesn’t need to be done decide what can be delegated have effective people to delegate to, and put systems in place to manage all of the above. We can’t do it all – it’s time to delegate or stagnate! Once you have delegated and are left with the high value tasks, even if you are quite capable at playing the game alone, it doesn’t have to be a solo game. Working together can inspire you to achieve greater fulfilment and gain insight, momentum and energy by: leveraging success – pool your smarts getting there faster – more hands on deck mateship on the journey – work with people you like having more fun – celebrate success together! Being…

Position UP as the GO TO person!

There is a lot of wisdom on the planet – all of us have knowledge. But when those ‘in the know’ transfer their knowledge to others things start to change. There are three reasons we don’t share what we know Fear of failure – what if I don’t make it? Fear of rejection – what will others think? Fear of success – am I good enough? Once we overcome these fears the new checklist is Create quality message that solves others problems Package them to get knownfor what you know Deliver consistently to the market that has the problem. As an Australian and NZ Thought Leaders Partner I am inspired to help clever people be commercially smart by teaching them to think, sell and deliver. The success of the curriculum is proven. And here’s the bonus! As a recognised expert – known for what you know, you could earn $500,000-$1,500,000 per year, work 50-200 days doing the work you love, with the people you like and in the way you want. This is when you move from being a subject-matter expert who knows something to becoming a trusted advisor who solve others problems. As a thought leader you are then well positioned as the GO…

Earn The Right To Lead!

When it comes to good leadership getting ourselves ‘right’ to lead is imperative. The wrong person leading has a negative effect on individuals, culture, cripples growth and provides unsustainable outcomes. With the right person leading, the positive effect ripples through to families, business, communities and around the world. It all starts with being the best individual we can be, leading by example and earning the right to lead! The journey of self-improvement never ends and at some point many will choose to share their knowledge to help others. But there are some with a driver’s license that haven’t learnt to drive well! So too in leadership – the title leader does not necessarily mean good leadership. To lead well, we must work on our attitude, knowledge and skills and lead by example, always living what we teach. In this rapidly changing world, we are faced with new challenges daily and, as leaders, we must continue to experience what others experience. Those who have walked the path you want to walk are truly the best to lead you to success. And although the leadership journey is exciting and rewarding it’s not always easy. Jim Rohn says The challenge of leadership is to…

Are You Sustained Or Drained?

Each event in life has the possibility of sustaining or draining us. And although there are many factors that affect our well-being our emotions are a good barometer of how we are going. When emotions appear – take notice, ask questions and see what is behind the emotion. When we are feeling optimistic, enthusiastic and achieving, we have the desire to keep going and this contributes to being sustained. When we are tired, sad, angry, fearful or worried, this is draining. A long period of being drained prevents us from being fulfilled and can lead to serious health problems. The World Health Organization reports that mental illness, and primarily depression, is the leading cause of disability worldwide. And more women are affected than men. Something needs to change – fast! What’s not the solution is to underestimate the harm of long-term negative emotions by ignoring them, working longer and numbing the pain. The solution starts when we identify the problem – to uncover the truth behind the emotions and fix what needs fixing. I recommend doing my Sustained or Drained questionnaire, in How To Have It All, on a regular basis to see what’s going on. Or, ask yourself: I am sad/angry because… I am scared of… I resent… I feel…

Create Your Own Reality!

There are many paths to success, all of which benefit from both an active imagination and an awareness of reality. Many people use imagination to create pictures of their future success. Their mental pictures are the fuel to create a new reality. In the words of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the world of reality has its limits; the world of imagination is boundless. Think about your current reality for a moment. Now imagine what could be, close your eyes and feel what it would be like to live in a new and different reality – the one you really want. But in between imagining what is possible and creating our reality lies the crucial step of checking-in. We need to know what the current reality is – what actually exists. Without a check-in, there is the possibility of a disconnect between the real and abstract and this disconnect can hinder our progress. We may need to make changes to our current reality because, if we don’t, our imagination could take us in the wrong direction. As Albert Einstein said, reality is merely an illusion, albeit a persistent one.  Creating your own reality is a choice. The alternative is to be passive and settle for a life you don’t want and, that…
