Undress your ambition

To undress ambition is one of the essential qualities for living the life you want. It is often fear that keeps us from declaring our ambition — the fear of what we might lose if we take a risk. It is outside your comfort zone that the truly amazing opportunities lie that propel you into the life you want. So why don’t we declare our ambitions when it comes to our work? According to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency, data shows that women continue to earn less than men, are less likely to advance their careers as far as men and are more likely to spend their final years in poverty. Workplaces around the world face these challenges: * to provide equal remuneration for women and men for work of equal or comparable value * to remove barriers to the full and equal participation of women in the workforce * to provide full and genuine access to all occupations and industries, including access to leadership roles for men and women * to eliminate discrimination on the basis of gender, particularly in relation to family and caring responsibilities for both men and women. CHOOSE WISELY!

Research shows you can influence your level of motivation. That’s important as motivation greatly determines how we act and our actions determine the life we enjoy. A crucial factor that contributes to our motivation is the company we keep. What motivates you? What gives you that get up and go – the drive, the energy, the stamina and the commitment to create amazing outcomes? For the most part motivation is an inner desire to maximise pleasure and minimise pain. As Zig Ziglar said motivation is the fuel necessary to keep the human energy running. And if motivation is the driving force, the company you keep can determine the quality of the drive or the dollar per litre you chose to pay. The company you keep can have a positive or negative impact on your motivation. The people around you can: Affect – you are influenced by the company you keep. Infect – you are changed by the company you keep. Define – you are known by the company you keep. Reflect – you are the company you keep! It’s important to consider carefully who you spend time with. Qualities of success

Life satisfaction is greatly influenced by our mindset. Our state of mind, assumptions and beliefs are a powerful motivator determining our action or inaction. Success lies in our ability to challenge existing ideas, be open to learning and embrace the action required. Do you sometimes say, “That’s just the way I am” or “I’ve always done it that way?” Are you a ‘know it all’ — thinking you have learnt all you need? Do you have a fixed or growth mindset? After decades of research on achievement, Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck made groundbreaking findings on fixed and growth mindsets. She documented these in her book Mindsets — The New Psychology Of Success. Dweck says that a growth mindset creates the love of learning and the resilience that is essential for great success. Those with a growth mindset are motivated to exert effort and to outperform those with a fixed mindset. When we embrace growth, when we are open to learning, we find many solutions behind previously closed doors. True Believers have a growth mindset. They use the five qualities necessary for creating their own success masterpiece. Qualities of a True Believer 1. Expire the old stuff — move your life forward. 2….

Decision Time

Once you take responsibility for the life you want, making the right decisions is the next step. The decisions we make bridge the gap between believing something is possible and having something. But often there are many choices. To decide is to eliminate choice because either you decide or something or someone will decide for you. We all have a choice to be the leader in our decisions. In the words of American author, speaker, and pastor John Maxwell, “The question for every leader is not will my calendar be full but who will fill my calendar? Take charge of it or others will.” We often ask too many people for advice. Sometimes we ask the wrong people. We then get confused; we procrastinate and don’t end up making a decision at all. These three steps can assist in making your dream a reality: 1. Decide what you really want. 2. Plan how you are going to get there. 3. Stay focused and persist until you arrive. Although that may sound simple in theory, it takes the right mindset too. It’s important to say, “How can I”, by focusing forwards on what we really want, rather than saying, “This is why I can’t”. It’s about making the best…

Maintaining mojo!

Our mojo is that special magic that keeps us moving forward and bouncing back after a setback. Sustain your mojo by creating a healthy combination of work, rest and play driven by a sense of purpose. Amongst all your hard work it’s important to take some time to feel the joy of your success. Do you bask in the glory when you accomplish something? Do you take time to celebrate and reward yourself? Or is it all work and no play? Why celebrate? When it’s all about the work we may have the achievement but without taking a moment to celebrate we can become stressed and dull — being always focused on the busy. Similarly when it’s all play, we may have excitement and fun, but without results so we can become drained and in denial about our life. Knowing that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy and all play and no work makes Jack a drained boy — Jack (and Jill!) need to look after their mojo. Are you feeling fulfilled? Maybe it’s just a matter of maintaining your mojo! Every Minute Counts and You Can Have It All!™
