Facts that matter

What’s really going on? What are the issues that may be preventing us from creating the life we want? Awareness and the ability to overcome the challenges is key to success. Facts that matter: 1. The quality of life is going down In the Western world the standard of living continues to improve with better food, clothing, housing, medical services, education, travel, technology, entertainment and career opportunities. Why, with all this improvement, are we still going backwards in our wellbeing? The quality of life is going down – happiness for many is an epic fail. 2. Mental wellness is causing disease The World Health Organization reports that by the year 2020 mental illness (primarily depression) is going to be the number one condition in the developed world and will be the leading cause of disability and disease. And depression is fifty percent higher for females than for males. 3. Working parents are doing it tough The Australian Bureau of Statistics reports that 78% of mothers and 92% of fathers with school age children from 6-14 years are in the paid workforce. Working parents are doing it especially tough — struggling under great pressure being pulled physically, psychologically, emotionally and financially….

Finish with a result

There is often a period of time — prior to becoming a True Believer — when it takes a concerted effort to get better, before results are realised. Many give up too early, often when they are on the verge of reaching a level of expertise that brings great results. Persistence towards the best possible result should be the focus, rather than just finishing. It’s what bridges the gap to a destination of extraordinary results. In a real estate career, long days are very common. Deals are often made between 5pm and 10pm and on weekends. Demanding careers can be exhausting and even more so if there are no results at the end of the day. If we persist with the long hours and the results are still not showing up, we need to assess the effectiveness of our input. Poor results may be due to a quality issue — not enough knowledge, skill or not the right mindset, or a quantity issue — not enough of the right actions. It’s not just the hours we put in but the quality within those hours that matters. As expertise and persistence increase, improved output and results will come. Start — persist…

Courage to choose

Living in the Western World, there are so many choices that the desire to have it all — success and fulfilment — can mean facing decisions that are confusing, stressful and time consuming. With the potential for being overwhelmed, more than ever we have to make a careful choice and a quick choice. Careful and quick may seem conflicting, but too often we take too long to decide. The longer we take to choose, the longer we remain in our current situation. We are faced with choices every day. Here’s one to consider. Will you choose to repeat old stories and follow the old patterns or will you choose to begin each day taking full responsibility for your life? Choosing not to repeat old stories has a huge effect on your achievements throughout your life. It’s up to you. A True Believer knows that the way you live each day, from the moment you wake up, depends on making the right choices. No matter what your age or experience, it’s never too late to be a True Believer — to find a way to spend your days the way you want to. You’ve got to admire those who see something…

Surrounded by those who believe

We have been working on getting you right, to be the best you can be knowing that once we do we become the best in the lives of others too. We have also learnt to manage those who don’t turn up so well and to hold a space for them. So is this enough to create your success masterpiece? Is there anything else that can help us to live a fulfilled life? There is one more essential ingredient to success at work and in our personal life. We need other True Believers on the journey with us — those who believe. We all have thoughts of a better life. But why do some move confidently ahead with powerful momentum while others hesitate and stall? There are many components to success, but effectively managing self-doubt is where enormous progress lies. Surrounding yourself with True Believers gives you momentum. There is a common transition period from self-doubt to belief and it’s neither necessary nor smart to walk that path alone. A fellow True Believer can hold the belief for you until the evidence shows up for the party! Whatever your journey, seek out and trust the expert guidance of those who have…

Respecting the opinion of others

As a child, and as an adult, we just want to be loved, we often want approval and the non-believer in us or in others can quickly hurt our belief, conviction and commitment — if we allow it. We need to expect and accept that non-believers are all around us and always will be. Do you sometimes think that the person closest to you is the reason you have not achieved your dreams and your potential? And if this person were more positive or supportive, that your life would be different? Whether it be a husband, wife, mother, father, sister, brother, friend, colleague or boss if we don’t accept others for who they are and for the opinions they hold, we can label them as non-believers and damage potentially meaningful and long-term relationships. Some say that it’s none of our business what others think of us. True Believers are okay with the fact that some won’t believe in what they are trying to achieve. Warning: Don’t be confused about honest feedback from good advisors who have walked the path you want to walk, treating it as negative and thereby ignoring it. Sometimes the truth hurts and we can label these…
