Personal promise

The power of personal promise and commitment are foundations of fulfilment. When we learn to reject our excuses we then commit to a life that rocks! I have a confession to make. My BIGGEST cringe is excuses! That’s for excuses I make and that others make too. I guess you might say I have an excuse radar that I use on myself and others. This radar helps me identify excuses so they don’t sabotage attempts for success. As a wife, business leader and mum of two teenagers the filter over what I teach and how I teach is commitment. I strongly believe that the power of personal promise and commitment are foundations of fulfilment. Many decide what they want in life but then seem to break into two groups: 1.  Those who decide and don’t take effective action. 2.  Those who decide, then commit and take effective action! It’s not about working harder or longer (as we all know where that leaves us); it’s about effective action. Here is my commitment model and what I believe it takes to live a life of achievement and fulfillment. Commit to taking responsibility – reject excuses! Commit to staying focused – make the right choices! Commit…

What really matters

Working long hours does not necessarily bring productivity and fulfilment. It’s not the number of hours that matters it’s what is within those hours and are they filled with growth and progress? With 12 years in real estate under my belt, I’ve certainly worked my fair share of long hours! However as a leader I strived to make each day full of hours of progress not just hours. I had one of the most profitable offices in Australia and NZ and part of our success was that we worked to a five-day plan of effective hours. Equally important were the hours of progress in other areas of our lives such as health, relaxation, fun and relationships. Make every hour count by working towards what you value like your: physical and mental health personal development and learning spirituality family relationships quality friendships relaxation and good sleep recreation and fun! work achievements financial freedom growth through challenge. My clients in the Leading Women Programs know that it’s about the time we spend creating hours of growth and progress towards what we value that matters. This is where fulfilment lies. For that reason I recommend we work 24 hours of progress every day. With a…

BIG impact ahead

Chances are you are getting ready for an extraordinary new year ahead. Me too! But before leaping forward, don’t miss a crucial step taken by the highly successful – those currently celebrating the year just gone. As one year closes, it’s time to reflect on what has past as this is where little clues lie that have a BIG impact on making next year one worth remembering. Reflect on your last twelve months – how did you go with your health, relationships and wealth creation? Which areas did you rock and which need more attention? Write some notes, draw a mind map or create a slide show on the year that was – reflect on the good, the not so good and all that went in between. Ask yourself where did you invest your: Time? Energy? Attention? Learning? Support? Finances? What makes a BIG impact is how we use the little clues from the past to guide us on our journey. We need to take responsibility and be active by celebrating what worked and acknowledging what didn’t. This helps us know where to invest ourselves for success in 2018. Using this formula we can create a destination of choice and not let time and opportunities pass…

Get your groove on

Life is like a dance – some are in the groove while some could do with a few dance lessons. Sadly some can’t hear any music at all and never dance. There’s a rather cool and simple dance of life called the Two Steps Forward, One Step Back Dance that I love to teach. It’s for those who want to keep moving, who see a step back as a part of the dance of life. When things are not going your way do you sometimes find that one setback is followed by another? And then you lose momentum and motivation and end up giving up. Just look at all the New Year’s resolutions that are broken within weeks of being set. There’s an effective way to handle setbacks and perhaps all it takes are a few dance lessons. The Two Steps Forward, One Step Back Dance  Turn the music on – dance to your own tune! Take a few steps forward and celebrate your success. Accept that a setback or step back is just the next step. Keep your rhythm up and take the next steps forward. I’ve met many people who love to dance but don’t so here are some extra dance tips to get you moving! The…

Persistence brings reward

Persistence is key to success. Being persistent influences the direction of our lives and keeps us in alignment with our values. Where there is persistence; discipline, courage and resilience exist as well as extraordinary and frequent rewards. Persistence may not result in the desired outcome each and every time – it’s like a muscle and the more it’s used the stronger it gets. Persistence is what’s required to stay on the path. To keep persistence strong we need to: ·      know our Why – Why we are persisting ·      create value-based directions, rather than goals ·      not let the things that don’t matter get in the way ·      allow some discomfort – that’s part of the journey ·      not be paralysed by fear of failure or success. There are millions of small steps on life’s journey. Some of these steps don’t go according to the plan but they are all part of the plan. Sometimes the journey changes unexpectedly but the destination can remain the same – if we persist. Those who persist experience the same challenges as those who quit – they just don’t quit! Like a muscle, with its memory stored in our brain – persistence too has memory. The…
